Stroud Valleys Artspace (SVA)
Stroud Valleys Artspace (SVA) Is A Cultural Hub In The Heart Of Stroud, Gloucestershire. We provide space for professional artists and present a year round artistic and educational programme.
SVA is a multidimensional ‘space’ provider which includes studio, project, exhibition and event spaces, at John Street and The Goods Shed.
In John Street we have the 7,000 sq ft town centre renovated warehouse which hosts the SVA gallery, office, event space, cafe/bar area and the 26 SVA Artist Studios.
The Goods Shed is a Brunel designed industrial heritage building which provides a unique space for all kinds of artistic and educational projects, such as carnival preparations, art exhibitions, film screenings and live music.
The highlights of our year are the Site Festival and Jazz Stroud Festival. Site Festival is an annual, visually inspiring festival of artist-led exhibitions, films and performances combined with a diverse series of talks from artists and writers. At the heart of the festival are the long-established Open Studios, when artists open their studio doors across the Stroud Valleys over 2 weekends. For more information about Site Festival visit www.sitefestival.org.uk.
SVA serves local and regionally based artists through low cost studio space, an associate membership scheme, a support network and opportunities to promote their work through the public programme. For more information about the studios visit www.svastudios.org.uk/space.
There are many ways that you can be part of SVA: Become a member, join our mailing list, or contribute towards our artistic and educational programme.
Our Associate Membership Is Open To Everyone…
If you enjoy SVA’s artistic and educational programme as an artist, participant or audience member then we’d love you to join up as a member to get some extra benefits and also to help support SVA with its future work.
If you are new to the area or want to get better acquainted with like-minded people then SVA’s social events like the regular jazz and funk nights, social clubs and club nights are a great way to do this.
If you are looking for more exciting cultural experiences then SVA also offers a great opportunity to enjoy contemporary art, experimental music and performance events. Plus if you are under 21 then we have lots of opportunities for you to get involved with our youth led arts events.
