Strike A Light Festival
Strike A Light Festival
Strike A Light is a Gloucester based organisation striving to make Gloucester a city with a vibrant culture for all.
Strike A Light host biannual festivals for Gloucester and the people of Gloucester. We programme professional dance and theatre, always including work with black and diverse artists and ensure that all of our work is accessible and affordable for the communities of Gloucester. The festival is a chance for local people to come together; to share food, conversation and be inspired.
We deliver participation residencies to support the programme, as well as weekly dance workshops, creating opportunities for young people and artists to develop their practice.
We want Strike A Light to spark new work, ideas and creativity. We offer artist support to Gloucestershire-based artists. We want to encourage artists to live and make work in Gloucester and give them a national platform from which to show their work. Our aim is to grow and develop more venues across the city that will host and support contemporary work. Gloucester is a fantastic city with a rich heritage and Strike A Light give it something else to shout about.
We strive for our work and festival to be accessible so all of our tickets are heavily subsidised. We work in Partnership with Battersea Arts Centre and our festival is part of the Collaborative Touring Network. We also work closely alongside GL4 CIC based in the heart of the Matson Estate and with other arts organisations across the county.
