JLM Morton is a poet based in Gloucestershire, where she grew up and returned to after living overseas for a couple of decades. Her debut pamphlet, Lake 32 is published by Yew Tree Press (2020), the result of a year long residency at a lake in Cotswold Water Park. Juliette’s next pamphlet, Sentient, is a mediation on hedgerows, renewal, change and resilience (2021). Throughout 2021 she is poet in residence at Stroudwater Textile Trust.

An experienced educator, Juliette was originally an academic by trade and has studied at Goldsmiths, Sussex and Manchester Universities, graduating with MAs in literature and creative writing and a PhD exploring gender, whiteness/race, power, heritage and place. JLM Morton is a member of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and the Society of Authors.

In between demands from her kids for high-calorie snacks and wrenching another toy from the jaws of the dog, Juliette writes. Some of this work has been published in mags, journals and anthologies: Water & Stroud Poets Series 2, Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, Emerge Literary Journal, Riggwelter, Obsessed with Pipework, The Utopia Project, Streetcake, Magma, Places of Poetry, Wasafiri, Poethead, Atrium, The Lake Poetry, Good Dadhood, Stroud Short Stories, Night Time, Toothgrinder and more. She’s been invited to read / forced her way in to various poetry nights and festivals including Ledbury Poetry Festival and Stroud's Wool & Water Festival and last year the Places of Poetry project made a beautiful film of her poem ‘Stroudwater Navigation.’ She’s also a huge fan of collaboration and has worked on a number of soundscapes with musicians and field recordists, including The Toots and Drowning Backwards. Sentient is a long poem collaboration with artist Susie Hetherington.
