Talented Teenagers from the Quarry Collective arrive at Dursley Craft Market!
In May Dursley Craft Market hosted a group of talented young people who launched a range of products for the first time. They have been attending a weekly class at The Quarry Chapel, Cam where they were taught a range of craft skills and approaches to making products with the view to sell.
With support from tutors Hilary Ball and Abi Nicol each person has developed pieces, which were sold in the makers market under Dursley Marketplace.
Abi says:
โWe have a lot of fun each Tuesday, Hilary and I are really impressed at how the group have come together to make some beautiful and personal work. They have worked with local graphic designer Emma Irvine who has helped them understand the importance of presentation when selling pieces to the public.
This is the first time the Quarry Collective have taken a stall at the Craft market, we are looking forward to talking to visitors and the other local crafters selling at the market. After the restrictions placed on our young people it is so very exciting to see their enthusiasm and dedication to creating their crafts. The Quarry Collective sold handmade journals, fabric mache bowls, jewellery, felted broaches and greeting cardsโ
The group have been supported by Create Gloucestershire who have invested in the development of the group and provided funding for the subsidised sessions as part of their Create Local strand of work which focuses on amplifying the creative lives of communities.
