General Manager Wanted
The Tetbury Rail Lands Regeneration Trust operates the Goods Shed Arts Centre and in-house Whistlestop Cafe. The General Manager will be responsible for aligning the elements of the Board’s three-way strategy of Artistic Ambition, Community Obligations, and Financial Sustainability, and also for overseeing the operations that support their delivery.
ARTISTIC AMBITION
You will, in collaboration with the events and marketing teams:
contribute your knowledge of the arts and culture sector to introduce both new performance categories, and new performers in already well-established categories
coordinate permanent staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure the main events programme calendar is always fully populated 6 months in advance
COMMUNITY OBLIGATIONS
You will, in partnership with the Community champions
develop an overall structure for the activities and performances within the Community programme
identify opportunities for new participatory activities
FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
You will, in collaboration with finance staff, oversee the financial management of the Goods Shed, including:
Setting and monitoring annual event income targets by category
Adjusting the medium-term mix of socially- and commercially-priced events in response to conditions
Setting and monitoring expenditure budgets
RESOURCES and OPERATIONS
Operations are run by a combination of staff and very active volunteers and the General Manager maintains oversight of all arts centre activities, ensuring the estate and key equipment is fit for purpose, and directing a small support team.
JOB FACTS
• The role is part time at FTE of 0.6, equivalent to 22.5 hours or 3 days per week
• The salary is in the range £36,000 to £39,000 per annum, at FTE pro rata, depending on experience
• The role is primarily office-based, and normal hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm, Wednesday to Friday
• The General Manager is expected to act as event duty manager on one weekend, and on one midweek evening per month
