Next Cam & Dursley Creatives Meet up. 14th Dec Leaf & Ground.
Cam & Dursley Creatives hold regular informal meetings for anyone interested in combining energy and resources into the creative lives of the community.
The next meeting will be at Leaf and Ground at 4.30pm on 14th December.
Come along to find out about projects in the pipeline including the National Gallery 200 project which is touring the country and coming to Cam & Dursley next Summer. We’ll be sharing updates of this amazing opportunity for Cam and Dursley, how it might work and what we can do in preparation of their arrival in July.
There will be tea and coffee served in the meeting room.
We will also be sharing updates on three other initiatives supported by C&D:
The wonderful exhibition at Dursley Library of the work created by Rednock A'Level students and local printmaker Hayley Walters for Tyndale Arts Trail
With the support from Tyndale Arts, Young People's Community Chest and Jackson's Arts Hayley was able to introduce the sixth form to silk screen printing. This incredible day saw the group create over 80 A1 prints using mixed media techniques and enlarged drawings of illustrations inspired by fiction. It was wonderful to celebrate the exhibition at Dursley Library with a preview attended by friends, family and Mike Stratford, Rednock's new Headmaster.
2. The recent commissioning by Dursley Town Council of Street Artist Matthew Tanner to work with a group of Rednock students in the art of murals.
Two initial ideas were selected after a whole school competition to bring a little bit of colour to the town. Over the coming weeks Matthew will teach the group how to think about scale, audience, colour, application and collaboration. We can't wait to see the final outcomes on Kingshill Road!
3. Yesterday the sculpture project led by local Ceramic Artist Clare Mahoney began.
Supported by Cam and Dursley Creative's Young Peoples Community Chest and Twinberrow Trust - 8 talented young people have begun 6 days working with Clare. On Tuesday 15th Nov they met in the wind and the rain to walk around Twinberrow Woods looking at current sculptures and collecting natural forms from the space. They have now begun to create casts of the beautiful textures and forms which will be used to create a lasting ceramic sculpture for the trail. The initial investigations into plaster mould making look really exciting. We can't wait to see what the group will create for our community!
Looking forward to seeing you there, Abi.
