Join a brilliant community event to celebrate Refugee Week Festival in Gloucestershire

During Refugee Week, 17-23 June, twenty-eight organisations from across the county are joining forces to host several community-powered events in Cheltenham and Gloucester, all sharing the theme ‘Our Home’.

Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts and culture festival celebrating the creativity, contributions and resilience of refugees. Gloucestershire’s contribution will be a part of nearly 10,000 events and activities in the UK.

From libraries and empty shops, to Crickley Hill and Gloucester Guildhall, spaces and places all over Gloucestershire will feature the food, music, culture and stories of those who seek sanctuary here. Many of the events are free, with some created specifically for children and young people.

Red Isaac, of Gloucester Guildhall where some of the events are hosted, says, “Gloucestershire has a long history of welcoming people seeking sanctuary here. This Refugee Week is an opportunity for us to come together as a place, to share and amplify stories through arts & culture - to consider what ‘ our home’ might mean to those who are far away from their own and to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our community.”
