Creative Industries recognised at Palace garden party hosted by King Charles.

Pippa Jones, CG’s founder and director was invited to Buckingham Palace for a garden party last week to join 4000 other people celebrating the contribution of the creative industries to the UK. Key industry figures - including some well-known faces - mingled with representatives from arts charities and community projects during a sunny afternoon in the Palace gardens. The King's name might have been on the beautifully sturdy invitation card but the guest list was down to Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The United Kingdom’s Creative Industries are world-leading, an engine of our economic growth and at the heart of who we are as a nation. From theatre to video games, publishing to design, museums and galleries to film sets and music studios.

From 2010 to 2022, the creative sector grew more than one and a half times faster than the wider economy. But the importance of the Creative Industries of course goes well beyond the economy. The Creative Industries, and the creators and organisations within them, bring happiness, prosperity and help shape the world around us. These industries have a special place in our national life, and this event offers an opportunity to celebrate them.

Watch the reel to see some of the more famous guests talking about creativity and its importance. And look out for a Toby Jones who sums it up perfectly:

"If you don't want the population to go mad, support creativity."

Pippa’s invite.

A beefeater - look at that embroidery! Oh and there’s the King in the background.

The Garden Party in full swing.

The garden party had all the trimmings, Twining’s tea, egg and cress sandwiches, strawberry tarts and scones with clotted cream and jam.
